The Charollais breed was introduced into Canada in 1994 using embryo transplants. The breed is is mainly used to produce terminal sires. The breed type produces an exceptionally well muscled and lean carcass lamb with a high dress percentage. They can be butchered at varying weights without the concern of getting too fat.
Land’s End Farm was one of the first four farms in Ontario to embryo transfer the Charollais breed into its flock. Our Dorset/crossbred flock was established in 1986 and now consists mainly of Charollais and Charollais X ewes. Our first Charollais lambs were born in 1996.
Land's End Farm has concentrated on breeding for good carcass qualities including long backs and good dress percentages. Our freezer lamb is vaccine, medication and hormone free.
We will be adding freezer beef (Dexter) ,for sale in the late fall of 2009.
